Volunteer of the Year Awards 2019

Nominations closed on Monday, April 15, 2019.

These awards are presented to volunteers for their outstanding contribution to the community in the Wodonga region.

Awards are given to recognise excellence in voluntary service and are intended to enhance public awareness and appreciation of the quality and depth of voluntary service in the community. The awards are not seeking to identify a ‘best volunteer’.

These awards consist of three components:

1. Recognition of an outstandingly effective volunteer as the Volunteer of the Year, who will receive a certificate to commemorate his or her achievement;
2. Recognition of individual category winners, who will each receive a trophy to commemorate his or her achievement; and,
3. Recognition of an outstandingly effective team of volunteers as the Volunteer Team of the Year, who will receive a trophy to commemorate their achievement.

The selection panel’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into regarding its selections.

Nominations for the 2019 Volunteer of the Year Awards have closed.

Only volunteers are eligible. Volunteers are considered to be individuals or groups who are not paid for their activities and efforts on behalf of the community (apart from reimbursement of out-of-pocket expenses incurred).

The national definition of volunteering states that,

“Volunteering is time willingly given for the common good and without financial gain.”

An individual volunteer may be nominated and seconded by an organisation or individuals, on the official nomination form. The Wodonga Volunteer of the Year Award winner is ineligible for nomination in the same category in successive years.

Nominated persons must live, work, study or volunteer in Wodonga. Preference is given to nominees whose entry displays involvement or participation within the Wodonga community.

All nominees and nominators will be invited to attend the Wodonga Volunteer Fair to be held on Saturday, May 25, 2019 during National Volunteer Week.
